Splendidclub "geen bedenktermijn"
All,
please help! My wife does not speak dutch and today at the door she signed a subscription for 33.80EUR of/to the "splendidclub". Our son will now get monthly magazines.
On the contract is standing: "Goed lezen voor ondertekening, want u heft geen bedenktermijn". And on the backside "Opzegging binnen 8 dagen is niet mogelijk omdat actieprijs minder bedraagt dan 34EUR".
Normally in every EU country I can cancel what I bought on the internet or at the door/on the street. Is it true that in The Netherlands with such a trick people can loose their lawful rights?
What can I do?

Ok, i need to say that isn't wise to sign for something you don't understand or isn't in your own language. Hopefully a lesson for the future.
Having this said, ofcourse you can cancel the subscription.
See link --> http://www.james4you.nl/opzeggen/bedrij ... eggen.aspx
You nees somebody who understands Dutch so he / she can assist you with this.
The link shows 2 possibilities --> 1: for cd-rom 2: for children books.
If you don't have nobody who can assist you with the Dutch languahe, write the letter in English. I assume the person at your door spoke enough English to arrange your wife to sign. So understanding should also not be a problem.
Good luck !
