Paying below the legal limit.
I lost my job last year through the credit crisis. I started work for TNT post to get some money together for christmas. I was concerned that I was not getting paid the right amount and I went to see my manager who explained that extra hours worked are paid one month behind.
After four months and the third meeting with my manager he tells me that TNT post now estimate how long you should complete your work and every second that you work over that time is not paid. They estimated approximately half as long as it takes and so I am now getting half the minimum wage.
The worst thing is that they even made me do some extra work and did not increase their estimate so I did not get one single cent pay for it. I am embarrassed for the company as this can not be acceptable.
Does anyone have any advise for me?

Re: Paying below the legal limit.
TNT,
What is happening is not strange, but it is a kind of perfomance-salary.
TNT knows for every area how long it takes to sort and deliver the post.
These are called the calculated times, and payment is done according to these timings
If you cannot reach these timings you definitely do someting wrong. You should bette discuss that with mananger and see where time is lost which is not accounted for.

Re: Paying below the legal limit.
@ seagoing racer2,
Sorry, but incorrect.
The by TNT allotted time is based on the postal volume, not on the required time needed for distribution.
This is currently the most controversial issue within the distributional organisation.

Re: Paying below the legal limit.
I think SEAGOING RACER is a TNT shareholder or something as he clearly misunderstands that if you work for five hours and the TNT post say you should do it in three that there is a too much room for abuse of the legal minimum wage. All new workers at TNT bearly make minimum wage even if they get paid for all the hours that they work. TNT does not pay even for you to carry the bags from the sorting office to the beginning of the round and they do not pay for you to cycle the empty bags back even though you are carrying their administration documents that describe the work you have just done. The system is not much more than abuse of low paid workers to make profits in excess of €500 million.
If there was a system in place for fair pay you would expect that the company would increase their estimate at times of high volume(Christmas for example) but they do not.
Anyway I resigned and I am talking to DAS recht about the situation. i hope Sandd breaks them.
