HELP! We need Help and Support with NUON !

sorry dat ik in engels moet schrijven, mijn nederlands is noog niet zo goed.
On last Tuesday there where 2 cards in my postbox to check electricity and gas. On checking gas and electrcity, I came to the following conlusion:
Gas we spend around 1500 m3, as we used to spend the year before in the netherlands and the years before in germany, so there was not much change.
Electricity we spend usually between 1400 -1800 kwh a year,
from 2007 - 2008 we spend around 1600kwh for one year in amsterdam.
Now with the new figures of NUON meter from 2008 - 2009 we should have spend more than 9000kwh.
I was realy shocked, since we did not change our habbits and still use electricity the same way we always use.
So I called OXXIO as supplier and contractor, they told me to call NUON.
NUON told me now that they cant do much. The only thing they offered sending a technician to check the meter, which will cost us around 700€.

Is it really our responsibility to proof that electricity meter is maybe broke?

Your gasbill seems allright..
Spending 9000 Kwh on electricity is far too much regarding your previous bills.
First you should check if there is any equipment ( boiler, fridge, plasmascreen ) that could malfunction by disconnecting everything and connect the individual machines one by one.
If all machines work fine, you could consider to let a technician check the meter. If you're right and the meter malfunctions, than de bill will be paid by NUON. If the meter functions correctly, you will have to pay the bill.

This is the last thing to do. And, if the meter is broken without your fault!!, then the cost of 700,= will ben paid by the provider. Nuon, now called Liander.
Just to make sure:
are the meterreadings correct? In which I mean, is the Electricity meterreading used on the bill, the reading of your hand?

Uit uw vraag op dit forum maak ik op dat er onduidelijkheid is ontstaan over uw elektriciteitsverbruik.
Als u er geen bezwaar tegen heeft, zou ik graag op korte termijn telefonisch contact met u op willen nemen. Zou u mij hiertoe uw contractrekeningnummer kunnen geven, zodat ik op basis daarvan uw telefoonnummer kan achterhalen? Alvast bedankt voor de moeite.
Uw contractrekening begint met (000)300 en staat bijvoorbeeld op acceptgiro’s of uw jaarafrekening. Om u gerust te stellen: met uw contractrekening hebben anderen geen toegang tot uw klantgegevens. U kunt beter niet uw klantnummer op dit internetforum plaatsen.

Hello,
thank you for the response, you ask for a Nuon Number, which I can not provide, since we have a contract with Oxxio. Or can I find this number on the Meter?
To make sure that we do not use that much energy, I noted the last 14 days, how much energy we used and in 14 days we 144kwh, which would proof that we are right that it is impossible that we used so much energy within 11 month. I am realy clueless and I think we will just have to pay this 2400€.
Well there goes our holiday for this year.

If you spend 144 kwh in 14 days ( in a summer-month, so you wouldn't spend much energy ) en this would last whole year, you would still spend almost 4000 kwh...
When you'll take in consideration dat you'll spend much more energy in the wintermonths... Then this will be far too much in a years time..
1 possibillity is that there is a machine that spends too much energy ( you should check this ).. If you're sure that isn't the case, then let the NUON send a technician to check the meter... Then the meter MUST be wrong !

Well thats the problem, NUON wants us to proof and send a document which gives 3 oportunities, checking the meter around 400€, check + change something on the meter around 600€ and replacing it 700€.
I just wonder, why do WE have to proof that if the meter is working propperly? it is not ours , it is part of NUON and is it it really law that a customer has to pay for for something he does not own?

You don't have to prove anything.
If you want the meter to be replaced, you'll have to pay offcourse.
If you want the meter to be checked and it will turn out to be functioning properly, you'll have to pay too ( logical, because the meter functions allright and the technician has to be paid )...
If the meter functions incorrectly, the NUON will pay for the technician ( that 400€ ) AND will replace the meter ( or repair it ) and you'll be able to reject the bill because it's probable that the meter hasn't worked correctly the whole time..
So you don't have to prove ( NUON will do that for you ) .. You only have to take the chance of having to pay if you are incorrect.

Nuon Medewerker contacted me and we tried to figure out, why we spend so much electricity.
Our provider oxxio took an average last year of 1600 kwh we would have spend, at this point we had spend already about 4000 kwh, so thats 2400 kwh more and thats why we paid the first year so less money a month, if you count than this year with extra 5000 kwh you have the summary of 9000 kwh.
unfortunately this means we have to pay this 9000 kwh and they will raise the monthly payment as well.
thank to the nuon support via TROS and via phone. I really appreciated the conversation and for talking in german.
